Do Ya Wanna Play or Sing?
PLAYING ALOING WITH THE CLUB MUSICIANS
We have musicians at all levels from professionals who have been playing all their lives and beginners who are interested in learning some new songs, chords and techniques.
We encourage all musicians regardless of ability to come and play with us in our group setting. Please don’t be afraid if you are a beginner or don’t play very well. We have several of our better musicians that are amplified and create the primary sound. If you sit in with an acoustic guitar it’s likely that you’ll be the only one that hears you. All of our members are very friendly and willing to help. If you are a good player who can play leads or sing, let us know and we will find a way to fit you in.
We have several bass players and keyboardists. They usually work out between them who will play on which song. We have a few different drummers and they will all let you sit in for a song or two. Obviously it’s not feasible to have several drummers playing at the same time. But there are also opportunities to play other percussion when songs call for it.
The Beatles used a lot of unusual and advanced chords in many of their songs. We offer a great opportunity to learn new chords by playing along with us. Most of us use a book called The Beatles Complete Chord Songbook which is available at Barnes and Noble at Lake Sumter Landing and of course on Amazon. Our philosophy is that if you see a chord that you know, play it. If you see chords that you don’t know, you have the opportunity to learn something new without worrying about who hears you.
For those of you that like to have their charts on a tablet, we have that book and many of the songs that the Beatles covered available as a Dropbox file. Just send an email to [email protected] and ask for it.
